Contest lets consumers tell Canon why they would make a great pop star for a chance to win a complete makeover in New York City and a trip to Z100’s Jingle Ball 2007

Today, Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced its first ever, “So You Want to Be a Pop Star?” online sweepstakes. Consumers from any of the 48 contiguous states can log onto www.powershot.com and enter for their chance to win an exciting trip to New York City and tickets to Z100’s Jingle Ball 2007.

Online Contest
Beginning today and running through November 16, 2007, Canon fans can enter the “So You Want to Be a Pop Star” sweepstakes by simply logging onto www.powershot.com and entering their name, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number and date of birth. Ten finalists will be chosen at random on November 19, 2007. Finalists will receive a new Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH camera to record a sixty-second video for the Web site that showcases their talents, whether that means singing, dancing or any other skill they think qualifies them to be a pop star!

The Pop Star Experience
Consumers can view the finalists’ videos on November 27, 2007 at www.powershot.com where they can vote for their favorite pop star candidate until December 5, 2007. Any visitor to the site who submits a vote during this time has a chance to win themselves a trip to New York City and tickets to Z100’s Jingle Ball 2007.

The Grand Prize winner and voting bloc winner will be awarded round-trip airfare for themselves, plus one guest, to New York City. Both winners will be selected on December 7, 2007.

Once in New York, the pop star-in-training Grand Prize winner will have four days to explore New York City and will receive lessons with celebrity voice, dance, hair/make-up and wardrobe coaches.

And since pop stars need to be in the limelight, the Grand Prize winner will join Z100 DJ JJ and various Jingle Ball artists in the broadcast booth backstage before the concert. With their PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH camera in hand, the Grand Prize winner will be able to get up-close and personal to some of the biggest music stars.

Z100, New York’s hit music station, hosts Jingle Ball annually and it has fast become one of the most popular holiday concerts in the country. Popular artists from all over the world come to New York City in December for the opportunity to sing at Madison Square Garden and for Z100 fans.
